Hello buddies!! I’m back again with some good news! Chiquita Jackson is officially in the nursing program! It has been quite a journey getting there but I am hoping the pay off will be well worth the trouble. I’m very nervous about starting the program. I’m sure you’ve all heard the horror stories about how stressful the program is and how you practically have no life for two years…i’m hoping there’s happiness somewhere in there. It was a big decision for me to stick with nursing because i’ve been contemplating majoring in health for some time now. I love learning about how to keep the body healthy and i’m really fascinated by the fitness world. But I figured I would have more opportunities and security with a nursing degree rather than a health one. And if I make it through the nursing program and find that it’s not for me, i’m sure I can still do something health related. It’s really amazing how much you find yourself in college. You go through so many experiences and meet so many new people and through it all you start to discover who you really are. I look forward to discovering whether nursing is really for me. I’m definitely interested in it but next semester will let me know whether it’s really something I can see my self doing for a while. Wish me luck!!!

Hello buddies!! This past week at Austin Peay has definitely been an interesting one! I’ve had a lot of good things happen and unfortunately a lot of bad things too. On the good side, I made an A on my microbiology test!! Yes I said an A! This is my third time taking the class and the first test I get an A!! I’d say it’s about time! =) The professor I have is a great one and I actually go to class EVERY day so I think that makes a difference. So take it from me…don’t ever give up!!! You may not get it right the first or even the second time but EVENTUALLY you will get it!! I also got an A on my theatre test. My theatre class is actually pretty interesting. It’s really making me want to go out and watch a lot of plays. I was never really that excited about theatre before but I think I’ve gained an appreciation for it and I’ve really started to see the beauty in it. So hopefully I’m able to catch a few good performances…

Now like I said before, there was a few things that went bad this week as well. My car got stolen!!!! Yea it’s true…my very first car..the love of my life got stolen. I was shocked, I mean to walk out to the parking lot and see that your car is gone…it was definitely hard. But guess what…they found it!!! The police actually called me up today and let me know that my car was found. I’m sooooooooooooooooooo happy!!! I was already in the process of looking for another car. So today is definitely a blessed day! But overall, life is going good, I’m doing good in school and soon I should be learning whether I made it into the nursing program or not. Hello out there!! As you may already know, Austin Peay has officially started its fall semester of classes. To be honest, I am little surprised that I actually like my classes this semester. My teachers are really nice and the classes actually interest me. I am also only taking 12 hours so I am not as stressed as I usually would be. I went to the football game we had this past saturday and it was great!! We won by a landslide and looked really good out on the field. I think were going to have a winning season this year. I will definitely be at the next game. I was also lucky enough to get to watch the game from the President’s Box. It’s really nice up there..you get to meet a lot of people and the food is delicious. I also had the pleasure of meeting our new president Timothy Hall. He was very easy to talk to and he made sure everyone around him was having a good time. I think he’s a good addition to Austin Peay.

I hope all you newcomers to Austin Peay are enjoying the campus and your classes. I know at first things may seem a little overwhelming, but believe me..you will get the hang of it. I also want to let you know that you will recover from the high prices of your books..=). I truly look forward to what this fall semester has to bring and look forward to what changes are in store for the Peay!!! Thanks for reading and I will be back soon!!

Hello again my fellow readers!! I’m sad to say that my summer is quickly coming to an end. Actually, I never really had a summer due to being in summer school..=(. But it was my fault I was there so I can’t really say anything. August 27th is our first day back to school and it’s only about a week away. Even though I’m not quite ready to start school up again, it’s always a little exciting to start a brand new year. You just never know who you’re going to meet or what things you’ll get the chance to experience. So although the fun and no homework of summer is ending, a whole bunch of exciting new things are soon to begin. I look forward to meeting all you incoming freshmen out there. The first year of college is always a very exciting period in a person’s life. I hope you all enjoy Austin Peay and show that Peay spirit!! And don’t worry…upperclassmen are nice and won’t tease you at all!! =) I really look forward to possibly joining a sorority this semester. It’s something different that I’ve always wanted to do so I hope I’m able to find one that I will fit into. There’s so many to choose from so I know it’ll be a hard decision. There’s definitely not a lack of things to get involved in at Austin Peay. Well, I hope to see you all soon and below I have a list of important dates you may wanna know..see you soon!!

Here is the suggested program of study for a Nursing major:

Freshman Year:

TOTAL HOURS:33 (Don’t worry this does not mean 33 hours a semester, it’s divided between the two semesters. Meaning 17 hours one semester and then 16 hours the next semester).

*Starred courses are designated nursing prerequisites that must be completed before starting the nursing program.

So freshman year is mostly for your prerequisite courses like english, history, psychology,biology, etc.
